The Instructor
“Art for me is the passing of an idea, thought, or feeling and sharing of that is the ultimate reward.” gail.
gail shares her years of experience and knowledge of watercolor with students of all artistic levels in weekly group classes, individual lessons, and workshops that have drawn students from across the United States. Her workshops include a variety of topics in picturesque locations such as Estes Park, Colorado; Ghost Ranch, Abiquiu, New Mexico; Leatherwood Forge Retreat in Tennessee; Dieuefit, France; Vancouver and Gabriola Islands, B.C. Canada and Guatemala, Central America.
gail values the time with her students and finds her greatest success comes through their accomplishments.
“As both a teacher and a facilitator, I share all I know about putting paint to paper, holding nothing back, and I encourage students to develop their own style, working from their own subject matter, to keep reaching a little past their grasp, and to have fun painting.”

The Artist
The luminous reflective light of gail’s transparent watercolors is achieved without the use of white paint or gouache on her palette and by preserving the white of the paper as the only white of her paintings. gail’s exquisite use of this traditional watercolor technique has vaulted her to worldwide recognition and constant demand.
gail began painting in 1982 and has subsequently studied under 30 accomplished instructors, won a variety of awards and honors, and in 1995 began instructing classes herself. She has completed commissioned works for former Kentucky Governor Louie B. Nunn, Franklin Marriott Hotel and Convention Centre, Lions Club of Franklin, Nashville Symphony Italian Street Fair and many others.
gail is honoured to be an Associate Member of the Winsor & Newton Creative Artist Network. This international network of artists is sponsored by Windsor and Newton of London, England.
gail was a long time faculty member of the Cheekwood-Botanical Garden & Museum of Art, Nashville; also a member of the Tennessee Watercolor Society, Kentucky Watercolor Society; and the Transparent Watercolor Society of America. |
